Defined as art produced before the conquest of the Americas by the Spanish Conquistadors, and often shows both a great fear and huge appreciation of the supernatural world with a range of demons and gods. Pre-Columbian art often depicted the horrors of warfare and human sacrifices, but also showed the softer side of life with frequent depictions of mother and child, animals and even humorous events and subjects.
